Saturday morning started off with a different level of excitement. It was the last day of the week, and we were getting ready to end our second week on the right note. We woke up, showered, got dressed, and enjoyed our breakfast. We arrived at the school by 8:30 a.m., got quickly situated, and began our work.
Some of our team members continued to conduct classroom observations with the aim of learning and trying to understand the dynamics of different subject classes. The remaining team members continued to meet with students for career guidance and counseling.
It seems as if the teachers and students were more accepting of our presence and becoming comfortable with our mission. Students had become more open to talking about their hopes and dreams while teachers were eager to help us in any way possible.
Our team member, Rajbir, lead small workshops with teachers about the importance of creating a lesson plan and offering worksheets to guide them. We were thankful to the six teachers who offered to stay after school to work with us on preparing lesson plans. The teachers seemed eager to learn and asked many questions. This is interesting because in our last trip the same teachers did not ask questions or shared their opinions. Afterwards, we headed home to rest up and plan for a Sunday trip to Amritsar.
