Day 8 was Sunday. School was off, giving us a chance to sleep in and go explore the city of Amritsar. The original plan was to go to the Golden Temple but with it being a Sunday and the first week of June, the crowds and summer heat had us change our plans.
Instead, we all decided to dress up in kurta pajamas & salwar suits and head to the tourist destination, Sadda Pind.
Having enjoyed a different part of the Amritsar, we decided to also incorporate some work into our day off. Since one of our team member's uncle and aunty live in Amritsar and are both doctors, we decided to pay them a visit and pick their brains about their thoughts on the deficiencies in Punjab's education and health system. The talk was quite interesting such that we were able to hear a different perspective of the system. Instead of just railing the system, aunty and uncle provided some valid reasons for why the systems are the way they are and offered some possible solutions as well. After enjoying some amazing butter scotch ice cream and some much need cold coffee, we headed back home to rest and get ready for Day 9
